"Pi" one channel installation, 2014/15, 1 LCD monitor, 1 Macintosh computer with Flash HDD, QuickTime 7 and TextEdit/ digits of pi provided by Shigeru Kondo, Japan PI zeigt die Nachkommastellen von Pi als Videoclip von je 2 Sekunden. Dabei ist jeder Zahl von 0 bis 9 ist ein bestimmter Clip zugeordnet. Das Script spielt zunächst die erste Nachkommastelle, wiederholt diese und spielt bis zur zweiten, dann von der ersten bis dritten, dann von der ersten bis vierten usw. usw. usw. Die Laufzeit beträgt mehr als 640 Jahre. Die Arbeit kann jederzeit auf eine andere Hardware übertragen werden, da der aktuelle Status stets gesichert wird. Der derzeitige Rechenrekord von Shigeru Kondo ermöglicht eine - theoretische - Laufzeit von 3,2 Millionen Jahren. PI shows the digits of pi as video clips of 2 seconds each. Every number from 0 to 9 is represented by a specific clip. The script first plays the first digit, repeats it and plays up to the second, then from the first to the third, then from the first to the fourth, etc. etc. etc. The running time of the installation is more than 640 years. At any time the work can be transferred to a different hardware, as the current status is constantly stored. The current calculating record by Shigeru Kondo makes possible a - theoretical - running time of 3.2 million years.  |
